KUYU ("fabric" in Quichuan) is a small business offering original self manufactured outerwear and first quality llama fiber products from northwest Argentina.

Those who value them can appreciate the craftsmanship and the nobility of the finer fiber hiding behind every piece. In addition to producing an aesthetic pleasure and offering functionality, the works of these artisans are an expression of the sensitivity, the culture and the tradition of a community.

We would like to preserve and to stimulate these richnesses of native and aboriginal art, promoting the handmade beauty of the Andean world and creating a cultural connection.

If any product of your interest needs more information please get in touch and we will provide you all the required specification. We hope you enjoy our products!

Llamas are native to the central andean region of South America. Historically bred mainly as beasts of burden (at altitudes of 4.000 m), llamas are valuable providers of meat and wool, as well as of excellent side products such as fertilizer and fuel. Llamas, guanacos, vicunas and alpacas are all members of the Camelid family.

The structure of the llama fleece creates a very good insulation value, specially useful for outerwear. No chemicals are used in the processing of the llama fiber. It is durable, strong, and about seven times warmer than sheep wool, thus allowing for lightweight yet warm garments, which are soft and silky.

Woven fabrics and products are hand woven on a loom, with independent threads going across from side to side and over and under one another in various combinations.
